Welsh Triathlon

Welsh Triathlon is the National Governing Body (NGB) for triathlon in Wales.

Welsh Triathlon is the National Governing Body for the sport of triathlon, and its related multi-sports in Wales. The organisation is governed by a non-executive Board and has one-part time and six full time members of staff. Welsh Triathlon, looks to increase its profile and position within the triathlon community to establish itself as a challenging, adaptable, high performing organisation, meeting the needs of the growing sport and recognising and promoting a more diverse participant. Welsh Triathlon’s aim is to create an enjoyable, safe, thriving environment where everyone belongs and where everyone can explore their potential, meet personal fitness goals and achieve their dreams.

Membership

Welsh Triathlon has several membership packages, from junior membership, to membership for those who volunteer within the sport, there is an option for everyone. Each package comes with a membership gift, exclusive discounts and other benefits. With membership also comes an opportunity for participants aged 16-80, to take part in Great Britain Age Group races across the world. In partnership with Pedal Cover, Welsh Triathlon members can access an exclusive 10% discount as part of their Home Nation membership. As part of this partnership Pedal Cover provide Welsh Triathlon with a kickback on every insurance package sold to a Welsh Triathlon member. This kickback is used by Welsh Triathlon in its development of triathlon and it’s multisport related disciplines in Wales. Events

Welsh Triathlon permits the majority of triathlon events that take place in Wales. Alongside this Welsh Triathlon has an increasing portfolio of events including the Welsh Super Series, the Welsh National Championships and the TriStar Series. Events also include entry level Go-Tri’s, aimed at introducing people to the sport of triathlon and its multi-sport related disciplines. Welsh Triathlon supports a welcoming club network. Junior and Senior, clubs offer safe and supportive environments to assist in the development of skills required to take part in multisport, while having a strong social environment. Welsh Triathlon also relies on hard working coaches, officials and volunteers to deliver and sustain its provision across the country.

Performance

Welsh Triathlon’s structured pathway is aimed at identifying and developing talented young athletes into highly competitive triathletes able to meet the British Triathlon Performance Pathway standards. Three programmes form the pathway; Skills School the Welsh Development Academy and the Welsh National Academy. Included in the pathway is the National Triathlon Performance Centre (NTPCW); a partnership between Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff University and Welsh Triathlon aimed at developing athletes with the performance standards to be selected onto the Great Britain Performance Pathway. The Commonwealth Games triathlon athlete nomination provides the opportunity for athletes identified, by Welsh Triathlon to be selected to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games every 4 years.
