Here at PedalCover we’re always looking for new and interesting places to ride our bikes. So when we heard about the Jalon Valley in Spain, we found ourselves reaching for our atlases (well, ok, Google maps) and we were keen to find out more.
So we asked Tiffany from Velo Tours Spain who organise trips to this part of the world to give us the lowdown. Over to you Tiffany….
“The Jalon Valley is a beautiful cycling hotspot that is fairly undiscovered, and where traditional Spain is still very much alive. With one of the best climates, it is perfect for winter riding. Velo Tours Spain have located in this area for its beauty, quiet roads, great food, great wine and of course superb cycling.
The riding in the Valley is just beautiful, the smell of the orange blossom and the sun on your back whilst turning the pedals is just idyllic. There are a number of famous climbs in the area that we take you on, Guadalest being one of the longest and challenging. This ride is just spectacular with a long scenic climb and quiet roads. When hitting the top you are welcomed by the beauty of the area, overlooking the valleys below.
We like to offer a bit of a challenge to our guests and Col de Rates is the place for it. Whilst we run a leaderboard and challenge our guest to ride it as quickly as possible, this climb is not just a test of the legs, it is also a beautiful winding climb that hugs the mountainside, the view from the top is breath-taking.
