It was a great race to be a part of.
We’re delighted that the inaugural Cardiff Triathlon was won by our ambassador David Bishop.
David, who will be racing in the Great Britain Senior Elite team at the European Championships in Geneva in two weeks, won the men’s race in a time of 1:50:44.
Bishop said: “It was a great race to be a part of. This could definitely become an International Triathlon Union event in the future”
More than 1,200 competitors took part in the event, organised by Always Aim High Events, which is believed to be the biggest ever turnout for an inaugural triathlon event in the UK.
The event, which started and finished in Cardiff Bay and took place on closed roads, featured a standard Olympic distance race – a 1500m swim, a 40km bike and a 10km run – as well as a sprint race of half the distance.
Congratulations David and good luck in Geneva!
