Here at PedalCover we’re always looking for new and interesting places to ride our bikes. So when we heard about the Jalon Valley in Spain, we found ourselves reaching for our atlases (well, ok, Google maps) and we were keen to find out more.
So we asked Tiffany from Velo Tours Spain who organise trips to this part of the world to give us the lowdown. Over to you Tiffany….
“The Jalon Valley is a beautiful cycling hotspot that is fairly undiscovered, and where traditional Spain is still very much alive. With one of the best climates, it is perfect for winter riding. Velo Tours Spain have located in this area for its beauty, quiet roads, great food, great wine and of course superb cycling.
The riding in the Valley is just beautiful, the smell of the orange blossom and the sun on your back whilst turning the pedals is just idyllic. There are a number of famous climbs in the area that we take you on, Guadalest being one of the longest and challenging. This ride is just spectacular with a long scenic climb and quiet roads. When hitting the top you are welcomed by the beauty of the area, overlooking the valleys below.
We like to offer a bit of a challenge to our guests and Col de Rates is the place for it. Whilst we run a leaderboard and challenge our guest to ride it as quickly as possible, this climb is not just a test of the legs, it is also a beautiful winding climb that hugs the mountainside, the view from the top is breath-taking.
Our holidays include everything you need to have a great time, carbon bike hire, home cooked meals, complimentary water, tea and coffee, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks and a kit cleaning service just to mention some of the things we offer to make your stay more comfortable. Being only 1 hour away from Alicante Airport, Jalon Valley is the perfect place to get away from it all. We offer holidays that are affordable and suitable for all abilities, and we even cater for non-cyclists and families.
Velo Tours Spain have a range of holidays, from bespoke cycling holidays that are great for clubs and groups of friends, triathlon specific for those wanting to get away from home and really focus on their training, along with some of our favourite pre-scheduled breaks – Velo Vino, a relaxed pleasure cycling break, including a trip to a local Bodega, Seasoned Cyclist, suitable for those that are regular riders and want a challenge, Senioritas Easy Riders a relaxed break for the ladies where you can ride as much or as little as you want, plus many more. Our holidays are designed around you, and for you to get the most out of your time on and off the bike. You set the pace so you can do as much or as little as you wish.
Whatever your cycling experience, Velo Tours Spain have a holiday to suit you…”
