Differences between Pedalcover and Wiggle Cycle Insurance

As the table above illustrates, our comparison highlighted a number of key differences between the two policies.Firstly, the Wiggle policy is limited to the one bike in question whereas the Pedalcover policy doesn’t limit the number or value of the bikes in the home (up to the £75,000 total contents limit) so if there are other bikes in the household they would also be covered by the Pedalcover policy. Then there’s the fact that Pedalcover will replace new-for-old for up to 10 years, something not included in the Wiggle policy. Next, there is the provision of cover for additional items. Wiggle provides cover for accessories of up to £250, whereas Pedalcover will provide cover up to the standard policy limit (£9,000) and this includes cycling clothing and accessories including bike computers, as well as jewellery, phones, watches and other personal possessions whilst away from home. And, of course, the biggest difference of all is that the Pedalcover also includes home contents (up to £75,000) and buildings (£1million) insurance, whereas the Wiggle policy is purely for the bike alone. So, does all this additional cover from Pedalcover come at a price? Our research shows otherwise. In our example, the Pedalcover policy was a massive 46% cheaper than the Wiggle equivalent – a saving of £240! Giving you a nice sum to spend on some new cycling kit. Maybe from an online retailer….
